My Students

Pre-K for All is a new program within the New York City Department of Education that provides all four year olds with full day quality education. Pre-K for All gives children stronger reading and math skills.

My site is a Pre-K Center exclusively dedicated to pre-k students.

We are located in Brooklyn and have a diverse population.

We have a center based learning model. The students learn by engaging in purposeful play while teachers engage the students in meaningful conversations.

In my program we like to provide lessons that are interactive so the children can learn by doing.

My Project

Each day my students spend two hours and ten minutes in centers. We have ten learning centers that students can visit: Library, Writing, Computers, Art, Sand/Water, Blocks, Dramatic Play, Science, Table Toys/Manipulatives and Music. The centers have toys and activities as well as material relevant to our learning unit.

My students learn through play.

Their play is purposeful and it is my entry point to engage them in meaningful conversation. As one can imagine items especially toys evolve and get worn out. My class needs new material for our centers. The materials will provide my students with new learning experiences during center time.

The materials will help provide students with a platform to explore concepts while promoting Math and English Language Arts. The touch and sound capsules can be used by students during our five senses unit to explore their sense of hearing and touch.The water blocks and alphabet bags can be used during our water unit and where we live unit. These items help develop fine motor skills while promoting creativity. The light table and accessories can be used during our light unit to explore the effects of light. These materials also help develop and improve fine motor skills. The matching game, building a number house and architecture set will be used during the where we live unit. These items help reinforce learning concepts.
