Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My seventh grade students love to conduct labs. These supplies will provide the materials to conduct three labs. The first lab will have the students create a biome using rocks, soil, seeds, string, and a coffee filter. Students will use their biome to grow their seed packet. The second lab, students will create a non-existent animal that has all the "best" traits. They will use the art supplies for this lab. Students will create an animal such as a liger (a half lion, half tiger) to show animal adaptions. The third lab will allow the students to demonstrate their knowledge about the design of a cell. Students will make an edible model of a cell. Fruit snacks, chocolate covered raisins, gumballs and other food items will be used for this lab. By creating a cell model using food, students are able to associate different aspects of the cell and the shapes of each part.
