My Students

Hello future funders! Thank you for stopping by my project. I am the lead mentor of a FIRST Robotics high school team. We are into our eighth year as a team. We began as a group of 18 students, 11 adult mentors and a dream to build a competitive robot. We had no money, we had no experience but we had motivation! We successfully competed that first year and each year our team grew both in skills and numbers. This year, we started a junior varsity team in order to expand the skills of our less experienced future engineers. The goal is to allow the opportunity for students who have built those skills, to try out for the varsity team where the level of commitment increases, the level of intensity increases and the level of skill skyrockets.

We build minds through the close collaboration of volunteer expert mentors and students, all working toward a common goal.

This year, we are in need of two laptops that can remain in our robotics room. It will be used for CAD, communications and research.

My Project

Part of the engineering process is dependent on having the right tools for the job. Vision is key. What we design, what we discuss must be focused around the same concept and prototype. These laptops will provide us the opportunity to raise the level of skill. In order to make this happen, we have amazing mentors volunteering their time to design, program and build hand in hand with the students, organize the imaginable into a visual design for testing. We need access to the Inventor software.

Our vision is to have a sustainable program that reaches all students, where celebrations of intellect occur on a daily basis and students become aware of the power within themselves.
