My second graders are voracious readers! They love to read both fiction and nonfiction books. Their favorite characters include Pete the Cat, Fly Guy, Piggie and Elephant, and Mercy Watson. They also love to read about insects, space, and plants. My students are hungry bookworms! They are eager to learn and read about the world around them. My class is made up of general education students, children with special needs, and English as a new language students.
My students love to be at school and are like little sponges, absorbing everything around them.
Their parents work long hours and usually do not see their children. The children are usually cared for by their grandparents or a family friend. Most of them do not have someone who speaks English at home. Thus, it is difficult for students to acquire the English language.
Due to financial hardships, my students do not have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities during the school year or summer.
My Project
We will be celebrating Valentine's day with love, kindness, and friendship. We will be use the notepads to write special notes to each other and teachers. We will decorate the love notes with Valentine stickers and the stampers. I want to make sure that the day is really positive for my students and the bracelets, candies, and treats will help to make that happen. Students will also prepare little bags of chocolate, lollipops, and candy for their friends.
Our entire day will be centered around celebrating love, friendship and kindness.
My second graders will also make Valentine's Day cards for their families. The items requested in this project will help to make this a love-ly day for my students.
Your generous donations to this project will allow us to celebrate the love we have for each other.
