My Project
Fourth graders love to be creative. One of the ways to celebrate success in the classroom is through meaningful, engaging, and fun activities, such as making pop-up cards.
When I teach math it is important to relate the subject to real life as much as possible.
We do a variety of STEM projects, and origami projects, but one of the most fascinating (for students) projects is to see how simple it is to make pop-up cards. When I teach them the magic of something popping up from a folded paper, I use geometry as a foundation.
Fourth graders create pop-up cards for Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Mother's Day. We do this on the occasion to celebrate their successes at school - they know ahead of time that doing their best during math class, and having great academic results will lead to an award in a form of projects.
They are very happy to give the cards to their loved ones and many times they make more cards on their own at home or teach other family members.
Bringing engagement and excitement to the classroom through hands-on activities is the way 4th graders love to learn & will remember. Please help our school and my 4th-grade classroom to keep the excitement for learning.
