This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a 4th Grade Reading/Language Arts Teacher to wonderful students at a Title I school. Many of the students come from low-income family environments, and majority of the students receive free/reduced priced lunch & breakfast. In addition, these students need supplies, reading/experiential materials, and the resources necessary for them to be successful in life.
My students are eager to learn and read on an every day basis.
The resources will be used to improve upon their love of reading, while learning in order to prepare them to become contributing members to communities, society, and the world.
My Project
I want to show students that celebrating reading is important and often rewarding. My students enjoy reading and learning new information. It important that they learn to celebrate accomplishing reading goals, and being able to learn while loving to read.
The availability of the new books, and the incentives will allow my students to not only read independently, but to enjoy reading while learning as well as to celebrate reading with incentives.
My students will be overjoyed to have new books for independent and paired reading. The project will enhance their learning, reading, intrinsic motivation, and to celebrate their reading goals.
