Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently teaching transitional kindergarten at a Title One school. I have twenty-one students in my class. I am excited to start the school year by providing my students with the opportunity to learn in a welcoming environment. Teaching transitional kindergarten is the most rewarding job. Each day we spend time exploring ourselves through art and play all while learning how to be little people in a big world. For most of my students TK is their first experience in a classroom setting.

My Project

Writing in our classroom is such an important way of showing your thoughts through illustrations and writing. Through the literature read in class the children can see that they too can be writers. The printer will provide my students the opportunity to print their writings and display them for their peers and parents to see.

With these materials my students will be able to read about characters similar to themselves and written by people with like cultures and and customs.

I want to give my students the opportunity to see themselves through a variety of books written by people of different ethnicities.
