My Project

I teach a World Music class in which the students focus on a particular region from anywhere between 4-6 weeks. During each unit, there is a major project. The last project was during the Latin America unit and students were charged with creating their own themed Carnaval float, and then learning and performing samba music. We took the floats and our samba instruments through the halls and it was a great moment at school!

The students need a variety of mediums to use while they work creatively during their unit projects.

Giving students some paper and colored pencils isn't quite enough for this class! The more random objects-styrofoam blocks and balls plus felt sheets- I can provide to students, the more ways they can unleash their creativity!
