Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My work is predominantly with first-generation, low-income high school students. As a College and Career Adviser at MEHS, I am dedicated to guiding these students through the college application process. I am passionate about ensuring my students have the support they need to prepare for life after high school. Some of these students come from low-income families who are more likely to face food insecurity and unable to purchase day-to-day items they need or even enjoy a movie once in a while. My seniors have been working hard on their college applications and I want to reward that hard work while at the same time ensuring my students have access to what they need. These gift cards will be used as part of a gift card raffle that seniors can enter if they submit college applications.

Completing college applications is a pivotal step for first-generation college students, which is why I offer support through advising for our 530 seniors.

I offer guidance through individual advising as well as workshops. Help build a college-going culture and increase access to higher education for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented high school students by supporting our College Application Raffle with these gift cards!
