Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting decorations and supplies for Hispanic Heritage Month and other cultural celebrations at our school. In my role, I have the opportunity to work directly with students and uplift their voices. Our goal this school year is to create a safe and inclusive space where students feel heard, respected, and seen. These supplies will help us build an environment that reflects their culture and experiences.

Our students have expressed a strong need for greater cultural representation at our school, and they have shared how the lack of it impacts their mental health.

To address this, we aim to create a space that embodies their culture, practices, and personal stories. By doing so, we will reinforce that their sacrifices and struggles are recognized and valued, and that they have the full support of their community and school.

To achieve this, we are seeking support to fund Lotería sets to engage students with this traditional game that reflects Latinx culture, Papel Picado Kits to decorate our spaces with festive papel picado and tissue paper to create papel picado,

Mexican candy to provide a taste of Latinx culinary traditions, and futbol Stickers to celebrate the passion for Futbol within the Latinx community. We are also requesting Latinx heritage stickers to allow students to express their heritage through cultural stickers and a 23 Latin American and South American flags banner to display flags from 23 countries to honor the diverse backgrounds of our students.

These resources will help create a culturally rich environment that celebrates our students' identities and fosters a sense of belonging. Your support will make a meaningful impact students' school experience, ensuring that they feel valued and supported every day.
