This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a very enthusiastic group of students who are eager to learn more and more about world cultures. The majority of my students are Latino/Hispanic However, many have never visited their country and only know about it because of others' stories. The books I have requested will enhance the print-rich classroom I wish to provide my students within our classroom library. I have chosen these books with the recommendation of some of my students. We chose books at various levels of reading and different cultural topics.

These books will allow my students to appreciate and understand the rich diversity in the Latino/Hispanic cultures.

The goal for having these books in our classroom library is to foster respect for the different customs and traditions within the Latino/Hispanic cultures, in addition to every day living.

I wish to promote cultural sensitivity and empathy among my students.

Starting with their own culture is one way to start promoting this cultural sensitivity.
