This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Mexican American Studies students are eager to explore their heritage, challenge dominant narratives, and connect deeply with the rich histories, voices, and cultures of their communities. In our classroom, we center the stories that have often been overlooked—and we celebrate the resilience, creativity, and contributions of Mexican Americans across generations.

With your support, I want to provide students with access to powerful literature by authors like Gloria Anzaldúa, Sandra Cisneros, and journalist Maria Hinojosa.

These texts open doors for conversations about identity, justice, language, and belonging. In addition to a classroom library, we need art supplies to create cultural projects and identity collages.
