Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are unique because of the diversity found within our classroom. Currently, I teach inclusion ELL and on level English 9th and 10th grade students. Serving approximately 150 students, inclusion education is the integration of special needs students with the general population.
My classroom is a place for diverse students to learn and grow into young adults with the skills to thrive in our ever-developing world.
My hard working students come from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is almost all low income with students from all around the world. Our goal is to provide every possible advantage for our students to develop the skills necessary to become successful.
My Project
In March of every year, we celebrate the accomplishments of women worldwide who have paved the way for future generations. As educators, we aim to inspire young men and women to accomplish great things no matter their gender.
In an effort to do so, we intend to create a display in our classroom of books focused on influential women to celebrate Women's History Month.
We intend for every young person that enters our classroom to leave with equitable respect for people and belief in their ability to achieve great things. I am requesting books that reflect the important role women have had throughout history while we celebrate Women's History Month.
By providing these books as resources to our students, we hope to educate them on the accomplishments of women.
We also hope to inspire young women in our classroom to pursue careers in fields that have often been dominated by men such as science and mathematics. The books we have requested are varying reading levels and lengths to accommodate our students as well as showcase the many minorities that are represented in our classroom.
By supporting our project, you can educate young people to honor women's accomplishments and inspire them to go create their own.
