This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our young learners have an incredible brilliance and a natural curiosity about the world around them. Quickly and surprisingly, it has all been upended.

The current pandemic has dramatically altered our students' lives and opportunities for learning.

Without any prior experience, we were all forced to turn to virtual learning. While we thankfully possess adequate technology, we feel it is important to continue quality instruction that is especially relevant to today.

My Project

In these challenging times, our students need supportive teachers and resources to be successful. Teaching remotely requires educators to have access to quality materials for meaningful and engaging instruction. This project will undoubtedly enhance my virtual lessons and give my students the learning experience they deserve.

Although we are learning at a distance, students need access to culturally-relevant instruction and arts integration.

This is certainly a crucial, transformative time in our society. So, students need to see themselves in the books we read and discuss especially now. My project will reflect the diversity in my classroom through compelling literature, done virtually and one day physically.

Considering the power of integrating the arts, my project seeks to also effectively support students in engaging in music and its various forms. Given the variety of materials, I look forward to remotely introducing students to music from all over the world and inspire them to make their music and musical instruments.
