This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For our 5 de Mayo celebration, my students are excited to create a cultural project that brings the rich traditions of Mexico to life through the art of piñata-making.

Piñatas are an iconic part of Mexican celebrations, and this project will not only introduce students to this vibrant tradition but also give them the opportunity to express their creativity.

Students will be using paper plates, colored pencils, crayons, and markers to design and decorate piñatas, learning about the symbolic significance of piñatas in Mexican culture. They will work collaboratively to craft their own piñatas, while also discovering the importance of art, music, and festivities in Mexican heritage.

To make this experience truly special, I have also requested some Mexican candies to fill the piñatas. This hands-on activity will engage students in the process of making their piñatas, while also immersing them in the flavors and traditions of Mexican sweets. The colorful decorations and sweet treats will not only highlight the cultural significance of 5 de Mayo but also foster teamwork, creativity, and learning. Your donation will provide the materials needed for this exciting project, helping my students explore cultural traditions and creating lasting memories in the process.
