Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

These resources will assist me in providing a fun and happy environment for my students where they feel pride in their accomplishments after a busy, demanding school year. My students have displayed unrivaled progress this year in a variety of ways, such as improved peer-to-peer interactions, growth in reaching academic benchmarks, and developing necessary life skills. We are in the final stretch of the school year and I want to reward my students for all of their hard work and resilience. One way to do this is by throwing an end-of-year classroom celebration with snacks, juice, and popcorn for students and their families.

Furthermore, some of these items will help me teach valuable social, tactile, and life skills to my students.

For example, having an air fryer in our classroom will be a safe and practical way to teach my students basic cooking and kitchen safety skills. In addition, the checkers and bowling games will promote practicing positive social interactions and motor skill development, as well as providing an alternative, tactile-kinesthetic approach to learning. This is of particular priority to my students and me given their special education accommodations. Taken together, it is my goal to help my students build positive and meaningful memories to associate with education!
