Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My school has a wonderfully diverse student population. Many of our students are immigrants, bilingual, and bring with them different perspectives and languages. We embrace all of these differences and encourage students to share what makes them unique and special.

As a librarian, I want to foster inclusiveness and make all students feel welcome.

Our English Language Learners often struggle with communication when collaborating and socializing with their classmates. To help them develop language and speaking skills, I am requesting games and activities to encourage students to celebrate their cultures, while also developing literacy skills.

The games, coloring set, and Lego sets requested will allow students to work with each other to develop literacy and social skills. These activities include games from other cultures and multicultural models that do not require extensive difficult reading tasks, but that will promote social interactions.
