Every year, our school tries to give 5th graders and their families a special send off from elementary school to middle school. 5th graders in our school have worked hard to grow their scholarly skills to prepare for their next steps as learners as they move on to 6th grade. We have developed a special tradition of having a special "block party" celebration for our 5th graders, their families, and the community. We come together as a community to celebrate the hard work we have all put in together to grow these learners!
During this celebration, we present students with framed completion certificates and take celebratory photos with our students.
Families enjoy these last opportunities to photograph their child with school spirit photo backdrops and decorations and their favorite teachers. These are important materials for creating an engaging and meaningful night for families.
This year, there is no funding for certificate frames or spirit decor, so we turn to community donors like you to uphold our tradition for celebrating the learning of these shining scholars. The goal of this project is to celebrate our hard work and our community, centering on this accomplishment of our students.
It is important to us that we frame their certificates to mark this accomplishment. Additionally, having photo backdrop and school spirit decorations that can mostly be reused will help us continue this level of engagement in future years. We strive to support our students' self-concept as successful learners to support their mental health, confidence, and engagement in their future learning endeavors. Taking the time to acknowledge and celebrate their success will impact their future school, learning, and academic engagement in all subject areas.
