This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"The sky is not the limit, only your imagination is." Each year I have the chance for students to create artwork for the art room ceiling. The artwork created by my students leaves a legacy behind and inspires others in ways that they never realized they could.
My students attend a Title One elementary school in a low, socio-economic area.
All the students receive free breakfast and lunch everyday. I get to see them once or twice a week and let them escape from their test and data driven lives. These kids don't get to travel far from their backyards. The art room allows them to travel within the confines of the classroom and get exposure the art within their world. My students love to learn and the more opportunities to try something new, the better they become.
My Project
Our ceiling art project has blossomed over the years as more tiles become permanent pieces of art in our art room. My students will be using the materials requested to enhance the ceiling art project. We will use acrylics, cake paints, oil pastels, tape and varnish materials to create, display and maintain the art throughout the years. Over time many of the ceiling tiles have lost color, paint has chipped and worn down. With the use of these new materials, the tiles will be able to make a long lasting impression for years to come.
The ceiling art project brings joy to every art student, everyday.
The colors brighten up the room, inspire new artists and create a legacy for the students to hold onto for years to come. Please help to maintain the legacy my students leave behind in the tiles they paint.
