My Students
Welcome! We are so glad you're here! Our classroom is one lively place full of play, literacy, math, science, music, art, and lots of exploration. Thanks for stopping by.
My kindergarten students are a lively bunch who love to learn and play.
These kids mean the world to me and I want them to be successful and proud of themselves. We are developing a sense of self for each child through their play, social skills, partner learning, one on one conferencing, getting parents involved, and making sure they are aware of the world around them.
My Project
The resources I'm requesting are 6 portable CD players for the classroom. During our reading blocks, we rotate among centers to support literacy. One center we have is "listen to a story." Here the students use picture books that have been narrated on a CD. I typically have 3 to 6 students in a leveled reading group which is why I am requesting 6 CD players. The students follow along as the story is read to them. The students are able to enjoy the story even if the reading level is too high for them. The students love to sit back and become absorbed in the story.
Many students in my class do not have access to readers at home.
We try to provide a very rich literacy experience in the classroom. Unfortunately, I am only one person and I don't always get to read with each and every child. Listening to the CD story gives each child a chance to be read to from a self-selected story.
