I’m a teacher at a low-income/high poverty school. Students at my school are inquisitive, compassionate, and creative. However, in order to attain real world experiences and gain learning experiences outside the classroom, extra resources are needed. Our school has 4 third grade classrooms which consist of a maximum of 25 students in each class. We encourage students to explore and investigate outside the classroom as much as possible. Our energetic students enter the class everyday excited and ready to learn new things!
Students will get a first hand learning experience by getting to visit the local caves in our area. This will help them learn about the animals that inhabit the caves as well as learn about other nearby ecosystems and animals. This real world learning experience will help students come back and teach other students and local community members about these specific ecosystems and animals. Students will also use this information to further their own knowledge of the area they live in and various things they can do to preserve local habitats and protect the animals that live within these habitats.
