This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
These amazing 4th and 5th grade students are currently learning 2 languages: English and Spanish! They are eager learners who would like to continue becoming more fluent in both languages. Everyday they engage in opportunities to continue growing as readers! My students enjoy reading various genres. They love reading as well as being read to. They are kind and compassionate! They understand the concept of community building. When asked to describe themselves as a class, they respond, "We are a family!"
My Project
These books will offer my students opportunities to read various authentic stories that have different genres as well as open their eyes to the world before them! My students will read stories that will help them continue to become culturally responsive to events and people that surround them. My students will also engage in learning about different authors and their craft. They will have numerous opportunities throughout this academic year to emulate what they have learned from these authors into their own writing pieces. Lastly, by reading these books my students will continue to develop a lifelong love for reading!
