My students need pencils, binders, notebooks, glue sticks, scissors and other basic schools supplies to help them create an organized, college and career ready, school environment.
Welcome! My 7th grade students in my ELA classroom are like my own children. They range from being level 1 ESL students, EC students, and grade level ELA students. We learn from each other everyday. They are social butterflies and love to express themselves in so many different ways. Our school staff works hard to make sure these children know how valued they are and that they can accomplish any goal that they set for themselves.
At our school, we are a mix of all races, ethnic groups, backgrounds, and socioeconomic statuses.
We are located in rural Sanford, North Carolina and are considered Title I. We teach all subjects and hold students to very high standards, socially and academically. We do this through the AVID program which is implemented school-wide. This program helps create a college and career ready student who knows how to set goals and met them. However, due to the high population of lower-income families, a lot of students show up to class unprepared for the day. By having these supplies, I can make sure all of my students have the necessities they need to be prepared and ready to learn.
My Project
Some students have a lot to worry about on a daily basis like getting themselves or their siblings dressed and fed before heading off to school because Mom or Dad has just gotten home from work and they need their rest. They come to school lacking the basic supplies needed to get through the day.
I am requesting some of the basic supplies they may need including pencils, glue sticks, colored pencils, dividers, scissors, and binders.
The glue sticks, scissors, notebooks, and colored pencils will help my students create a fun and interactive notebook for my ELA class.
There's not a day that goes by that a student doesn't need a pencil or an eraser and these things should be the last things a student needs to stress about while in the classroom.
AVID is a program that is being used school-wide and the binders and dividers will help students to stay organized and push them to become more college and career ready. AVID emphasizes collaboration, critical thinkings, and helps improve reading skills. The construction paper, highlighters, and markers will come in handy while completing projects and analyzing text.
