The coronavirus pandemic has greatly effected my classroom. Our school has been closed for the last seven weeks and will probably stay closed for the rest of the school year. Currently my students are learning virtually.
Every week I sent a newsletter filled with activities and resources for children to do at home.
Additionally, daily I sent out emails for parents with different learning objectives for the day. I also arrange video meetings for my students to interact with each other, myself, the other teachers. I am trying my best to ensure my students are learning during this crucial time.
My Project
The unit of study which we are fast approaching is transformation. During this unit we learn about the different changes which take place around us. The most exciting part of this unit is learning about the different life cycles. The students in my class are particularly interested in animals therefore giving them the experience of growing ladybugs and caterpillars would mean the world to them.
In this particularly difficult time I would love the opportunity to show my students that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, that life flourishes and goes on.
This project will allow me to show the students the different stages of life cycles of ladybugs and caterpillars during our live video conferencing. My students are very young and it is crucial for them to see and learn through real life experiences.
