This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Physical education standards for 5th grade include learning and practicing how to "field a thrown ground ball" and "explain how to adjust body position to catch a ball thrown off-center." This is hard to teach, however, when there are no bats, balls, or even gloves for our 30 students to play at a time. In fact, we only have 3 or 4 wiffle balls, 1 plastic bat, and no gloves- in the entire school. Sometimes, even that isn't available in the case that another class borrows the equipment.
Through this project, I seek to acquire real baseball gloves for my whole class to be able to play baseball and practice the PE standards listed above.
