Casting Greatness to the Room

Help me give my students get an Apple TV for their classroom! Students can then delve deeper into lessons as I cast videos, drawings, and notes from my iPad in a way that smartboards are unable to do.

My Students

My job is to work with the "struggling learners" of the school, specifically within the 9th grade setting. The school I work with has a 5 tier system, with 5 being honors and tier 1 being a tier where students take algebra I for 3 semesters. My students are all tier 2 students, meaning they are the lowest level of students that take the state test after 2 semesters of algebra 1. I work at a high needs, low income school, so the majority of the students inside my classroom aren't particularly interested with school, college, or anything other than what is going on at home. This can prove challenging to get students engaged, as well as hold their attention, when school is the last thing that is on their minds.

My Project

I am requesting an Apple TV for my classroom, primarily so that students will be able to better see the lessons that are going on. A typical smartboard doesn't allow videos to be cast, and oftentimes has to have the videos embedded, which then malfunction when trying to use them.

An Apple TV will help students visualize what is going on in the lesson, as the lesson will come to life before them.

Another addition to getting the Apple TV instead of using the smartboard is that I would be able to have more mobility within the classroom, helping students to focus on the lesson.
