My Students

Our high school is in Alaska and is part of one of the most diverse school districts in the country. With an average enrollment of 1550 students in grades 9-12, we are one of the largest high schools in the state. Our growing orchestra program currently has 3 different ensembles to meet the students' ability levels, a volunteer chamber ensemble, and a boomwhacker club.

I believe it is important to provide experiences outside of the classroom to give students the full music experience.

We attend various musical concerts at the city's performing arts center. We bring guest musicians in to talk and perform with students. The students play all around the community; hospitals, soup kitchens, senior citizen centers, the airport, and more.

As their teacher, I must constantly balance our funds between providing outside opportunities with maintaining our instrument and music inventory. Many of my projects are to help replace worn-out and broken items. Thank you for taking a look!

My Project

Most of our current inventory of instruments is over 20 years old. Our repair budget has mostly been used for instruments and bows. Now it is time to replace the cases.

We need cases that protect our instruments and can carry all of the students' required accessories.

These cases strap the instrument down so they are not loose in the case. Loose instruments break when the case is dropped or hit hard. Something that happens when transporting to and from school.

They also have all the storage my students and I could want. Room for shoulder rests was the number one thing my student requested. No more lost or broken supplies. Thank you for helping us protect our instruments and supplies!
