Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help us focus!! In second grade we spend a lot of time on the floor during our "Carpet Time". We review our calendar, share, read aloud and listen to guest speakers. Too much of this time is spent debating about where we sit.
My students come from all walks of life and like most second grade students are very active and curious about everything around them.
Our school is a small rural school of around 400 students. Many of my students have moved here from other parts of the United States or have parents who are new to the United States. Our population is very diverse like many schools in Hawaii.
My Project
The carpet that I am requesting is a colorful carpet that contains 20 squares providing each child with their own personal space. There are a variety of colors on the carpet helping to separate into groups and rows. Not only will it help them find their spot immediately, it well help contribute to classroom management and small grouping.
Having a carpet with individual spaces not only will help students to focus, but also brightens up the classroom and makes it a warm and inviting place to learn.
Students who take pride in their class also take pride in their school performance.
