This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a Title I school on the outskirts of town. This school has amazing families and students; however, financially, many of them struggle. My students are hard working and excited to learn. This year, more than half of my students are English language learners. This can create some challenges in learning, but they are persevering and working hard to learn more and more each day. They love to read and are excited when new books are introduced. My students are respectful and responsible. They are awesome!
My Project
This new Reach for the Stars carpet will facilitate more collaboration in the classroom. Students will be able to sit in a special spot to work with new partners as they learn and grow. The new carpet will also give students a clean and safe place to learn. Their current carpet is more than ten years old and is not holding up very well. A new carpet will restore pride in their classroom and encourage students to expand their knowledge. The carpet will also help avoid some behavior problems that can arise when students do not have assigned spots or a set procedure for carpet time.
