Mrs. Brines from Bonney Lake WA is requesting Reading Nooks, Desks & Storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a Learning Shapes & Color Activity Carpet to create a community space where everyone has a place to learn and make memories.
My kindergarten classroom is designed for learning that is as diverse as the population of students in my classroom. My students come to my class with a wide range of skill sets based on no preschool experience to full-time preschool experience. Students come from diverse backgrounds and families, but the classroom environment is designed to support them in becoming successful students.
Our class is a place of wonder, curiosity, investigation and exploration for children of all abilities and skills.
It is a place where each child’s love of learning can develop and where they can build social skills to last a lifetime.
Woven within all of the core curriculum taught, you will find science, engineering, technology and social skills that are structured through the use of learning centers. Students are not expected to simply sit at a desk and do worksheets all day. Instead, students are encouraged to move around and interact with the environment or their peers, in order to build social skills, learn critical thinking skills and learn to develop sensory control. This allows students from all levels of abilities to blend together unnoticed, thus building confident, inquisitive young learners.
Kindergartners spend a great deal of time listening, learning and playing at "carpet time", but this can be uncomfortable if you're actually sitting on tile floor. Additionally, we learn best when we are comfortable and able to focus. If each child has their own soft space to sit, they are able to attend to the lesson, story or activity better.
This requested Learning Shapes & Color Activity Carpet will provide students with the space and comfort they need to build bonds with their learning and their peers.
This is the space where memories of their favorite stories are made and friendships to last a lifetime are formed.
