My students need this large classroom carpet to enable them to sit together each day for morning meetings and for lesson collaboration. This would give them a comfortable warm place to sit each day.

My Students
My scholars this year are an amazing, energetic, and hands on group of second grade scholars. Although they come from a high poverty background, they all work as a team to motivate and encourage one another academically, socially, and emotionally. It is always so heartwarming to see them grow together as a family. Our classroom is a place where students know it is okay to make mistakes and that everyone can succeed if given the chance.
My school is a Pre-K-8 building, where 100 percent of the scholars receive a free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
Many of my scholars come from single parent homes where food and proper clothing is scarce. Several of my friends this year are homeless. Once my friends fill their stomachs; they are ready to come to class and fill their brains with knowledge. Each scholar works to meet his/her academic potential with support from myself and their peers.
My Project
This classroom carpet will not only improve the classroom atmosphere, it will also be a learning tool to teach time and sign language to my scholars. A large rug will allow us to sit together as a classroom family to collaborate and share ideas each day.

My scholars sit on the cold floor right now. This carpet will give them a comfortable, warm place to sit, talk, and learn from each other each day. It will be a great gathering place for our classroom meetings each morning.
