Caring For Our Class Environment While Making it Our Own

Help me give my students the ability to take accountability for our classroom environment, while teaching them life skills.

My Project

Care of our class environment is an important part of our Montessori classroom. Students take ownership of the classroom because it is their space. Students have community jobs at the end of the day in order to keep our classroom clean. Some of the jobs include: sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning tables, and folding washcloths. Providing students with the proper supplies will help students accomplish our community jobs at the end of the day. Students take pride in keeping our classroom clean and enjoy this end of the day task.

A welcoming classroom environment is also important in Montessori.

I would love to add some rugs and a diffusor to the classroom to give it a more inviting feeling. Students bring a framed picture of their family to keep in our classroom for comfort and because we are a class family. I would love to be able to take the burden off parents and provide the frame (to be reused year after year) for their family pictures.
