Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom consists of 25 students. Over 90% qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Most students live in extremely high poverty and have very little resources. Prior to entering the classroom most students have had zero experience in a school setting. These kiddies need a solid foundation to build and instill a love of learning.
Many things we take for grated are skills that must be taught as they enter the classroom in September.
Many students do not know the alphabet, and cannot count to 10 independently. Holding a pencil or crayon is a foreign concept. It's imperative to reach these students now, so they have the best chance at achieving throughout their educational career.
My Project
This project will help these young learners be successful in the classroom through meaningful auditory and visual experiences.
These tools will help build confidence and a love of learning.
A document camera will allow students the opportunity to see and model the correct way to form letters, and numbers, and so much more!
The auditory system will give students the ability to hear how to correctly pronounce their letter sounds, and help them to speak in complete sentences.
The microphone will help students hear themselves and each other in an exciting way that makes learning speaking and listening more meaningful.
