Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working in the poorest congressional district in the country, my students come in at a wide range of academic levels. They are enthusiastic and hard-working, but many have large gaps in basic math and reading skills. As a teacher, I make every effort to give my students many opportunities to extend their work to higher levels and to raise the bar on their expectations. They are welcome in my class for extra help or just a quiet place to work during any free periods of the day. I also strive to provide extra support for students struggling with basic skills and extra enrichment for students who are ready to take their work to the next level.
My Project
Remote learning has been a challenge for all students but particularly students like mine who often lack the resources and technology necessary to succeed. Still, my students have worked hard to complete their work and continue to learn.
This care package will provide books, journals, pens, and crafts to lift students' spirits.
My students have been home for 2 months now, and they spend a lot of time worrying about their families and schoolwork, with their socio-emotional health suffering. This care package will show them that they are loved and missed and not alone!
