My Students

What makes my students different is their determination. The last week of school we had someone complete an almost impossible task as a 1st grader, jumping on a jump box. The entire gym stopped and celebrated with him and for him and he took that success into the hallway...and who knows where after that? Our students come from neighborhoods as diverse as their personalities. Our school and the district office support learning by doing, and the gym is a perfect place to have a project like ours.

My Project

The equipment I have asked for will be used in many ways throughout multiple units. The running parachutes will be used to enhance or enforce cardio output, fitness, running club training, etc. We can measure heart rate before and after a 100 meter run, for example, and determine how much work is being done. As an physical education teacher I can also look for indicators of a healthy or unhealthy student.

The drum sticks will be utilized in a cardio-drumming/rhythm unit.

This part of the project will serve as a bridge to music related arts reinforcing rhythm, beat, step, the opportunities are endless.
