My Project

Our school is a district that has an average of 20 kids in each grade in rural Missouri. Currently, the music program has a total of 3 talented kids in it and has begun a revitalization process with hopes to grow into a marching program. In the past, the program has participated in local Christmas concerts, State Solo and Ensemble auditions, and hosted musicals.

Due to the events of the pandemic, the music department has struggled to get back to its former size.

With a total size of 254 students in the district, the current directors' goal is to grow the program to a minimum of 25 students through recruitment events and sparking interest in music among elementary students.

Studies have shown that students love to learn by doing, and one of the most crucial points in a student's musical foundations is the first time they get to hold an instrument. In recent years, ukuleles have proven to be not only accessible to students with physical disabilities but have also been shown to improve both fine motor and auditory skills. With this equipment, students will each be able to have an individual instrument and learn in a hands-on environment.
