This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After seeing the success of our school's costume workshop for the theatre department, a group of students came to me and asked me to be the adviser for a sewing club. In this club, students will learn how to design and make apparel and accessories. Students of all sewing capabilities are welcome. Advanced students will help teach beginning students, and all students are encouraged to build apparel lines they can share in a year-end fashion show. Most importantly, sewing is not only a fun artistic activity, it also promotes mental health and environmentally-friendly habits - and my students love it!
