My Students

My school is Title I school that serves about 400 students in grades 6-8. Over half of the students in the school receive free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the students' home lives, they still work hard to overcome and excel in their school work.

My favorite thing about my students is that they are not afraid to let their personalities shine.

My students do not let their circumstances affect their ability to learn. Students put forth all their effort into each assignment they are given. I would use this project to help students find a book that is relevant to their circumstances.

My Project

Students love to be creative. Whether as writing, drawing, or photography, they love to express themselves in ways beyond the traditional classroom setting. My students at D.E. Middle School are no different. This past year, I taught a photography class. Although the students enjoyed the class, it was very difficult to teach with only one camera. By giving to my project, you will give my students access to more digital cameras. This will help more students become familiar with using a camera and allow them to capture moments special to them throughout the school year. 

Giving students opportunities to express themselves gives them the confidence to be their authentic selves.

It is my goal to use digital cameras to give my photography students opportunities to show their creative sides and be proud of their work. I want my students to become confident in their abilities to take photographs, whether it be at sporting events or still art. Students will have daily access to the cameras.
