I am so fortunate to have some the most hard working individuals. These students want to show their community that they are creative and dedicated learners. Learners who care about their futures and have a passion for learning about and sharing their interest in foods and nutrition.
A student suggested one day, that she would love to have a camera for the classroom and extracurricular club so that her work and the work of others may be shared. Knowing that funding is limited, she suggested trying to earn the money so the classroom or club budget would not be effected. The young lady and her classmates worked hard with kindness and perseverance to come up with ideas how to better their classroom experiences.
Another student suggested incorporating more technology into the classroom since he and his classmates would benefit from learning to share their school work digitally. A digital camera would allow students to illustrate their work in presentations, brochures or other informational uses as well as teach them skills they could carry into the workforce.
Students will be able to take pictures of their class projects in order to create works of art not only for themselves but to share with others. Memories will be captured of the creative efforts made by the students.
Academically students will learn to set deadlines and evaluate their work and the work of others.
Socially and emotionally students will be able to share their photos with others to gain suggestions and ideas. Some suggestions may be a little hard to hear but this prepares them for the real world.
Determination will be met as students work to better their pictures and their work.
In Their Own Words
Our goal is trying to share the world of food and nutrition with others around us. By taking pictures of our work and events, we can promote the benefits of cooking and being a part of a team. We would like to be able to show our community that we work hard and do good work.
As a member of a hand-on class of students, I will be able to show leadership by setting a goal and accomplishing it. I can encourage others to set goals and seek ways to accomplish them. Capturing projects completed in my class with pictures will allow me to promote the importance of my goal of having fun while learning.
The project "capturing the moments" is important to me because so many times, amazing teamwork and challenging skills are overlooked. I will be able to capture the hard work of our students and share that with others. So many people think that cooking is super easy but it can be challenging and it does influence a great deal of creativity.
