My Project

Our third graders are so creative and imaginative! We want to help them to funnel their creativity through the magic language of fairy tales. Third graders have been hearing fairy tales for many years and know the basic storylines, however, they have yet to study the specific language that has been capturing people's imaginations for decades.

Research shows that mentor texts greatly improve students' ability to write within a genre.

We would like to provide them each with a copy of one of the most beautiful fairy tales ever written, Peter Pan. Studying the text side-by-side with writing their own fairy tales will enhance their ability to utilize craft techniques.
