My Students

The art challenges the technology, and the technology inspires the art. –John Lasseter

Every child should be exposed to art and technology.

There are so many ways that these overlap with each other. Since I work with all ages I would like to get the younger students programming with Ozobots and butcher paper. They can create a masterpiece of their own and have the Ozobots follow colors (also known as code). While the younger students are doing this, I want my older students to be able to take pictures, document and create movies on the computers using the digital SLR.

My Project

These materials will make my project happen. Students need the markers and paper to program the Ozobots. Even if students do not believe in themselves, they will be able to do something as simple as color and express themselves creatively then watch robots follow their ideas! Then the older students need to take pictures. Everyone has hand held technology now a days, but what ever happened to the old school way of taking pictures and knowing what an ISO was? I would like to have my students interacting with each other and looking to each other no matter the age to help with programming and creating visual representations of using code.

Many times I have said I am logical not artsy, but I am upset when students tell me they are artsy and not technical because I know everyone can enjoy technology.

Blending art and technology would make students really want to explore both areas and see how well they can work together.
