My students need a camera to document and record their science experiences and goggles for safety in our experiences.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Mixon's classroom raised $350

My Students
I work in a low income, high poverty area. My students love the idea of hands on Science and are very engaged when doing projects. Our school has been a K-8 school, but is in the process of splitting in to a K-4 Elementary and a 5-8 Middle School.
We are a Title 1 school with 85% of our students receiving free/reduced-price lunch, many of our students have never had the opportunity to experience many of the hands on Science projects.
Our 4th grade consists of approximately 75 students, divided into 3 classrooms.
Students are looking forward to new Science experiences. We spend 45 minutes each week working in our school garden, with a 6th grade class. My students have learned a lot about soil during this time, and it has been phenomenal watching them make the connections with the garden and Science.
My Project
I am requesting a Fujifilm Waterproof Digital Camera and a set of safety goggles. The digital camera will allow us to capture a photographic record of our Science experiences. We will also be able to share that experience with other classes, as well as with parents through Flicker and class websites. These photographs will also be helpful to document, record, and share data between groups. This is a way to validate their scientific evidence.
When doing hands-on science, safety is paramount.
Safety goggles will reinforce good science safety habits that they will continue to use throughout their future school years.
This camera and the safety glasses will be used by my students for many years to come.
