"We created a video just like that!" These are words a student used while making a connection between what he learned in class and what he saw in a real world example. Our school serves students in grades 6-8 and provides rigorous and cutting edge academic and elective opportunities. As a result, our school serves at the #1 public middle school in our county and one of the top performing middle schools in the state in terms of opportunities and standardized testing scores.
My students are creative, energetic, and eager to learn.
My sixth grade students are learning to navigate their ways in a large middle school setting while striving to make good decisions along the way. Students find an exciting classroom environment when they step into multimedia class. I strive to make class exciting and inviting.
My Project
I am requesting four iPads and four cases in order to build our school multimedia program. Multimedia is a fun and innovative new elective focusing on television, technology, photography, etc. My sixth grade students are goal oriented and motivated to learn. We have been creating Public Service Announcements (PSA) based on real world topics that our pre-teens face such as bullying, cyberbullying, drug use, peer pressure, etc.
iPads would allow my students to creatively use technology resources and help us begin to access devices.
We have successfully had 4 donated already.
These would be our final additions to our classroom. This would allow 1 IPAD to be available for every 6 students. Most of our innovative learning is completed in groups. With almost 50 students in each class, we need technology to make learning worthwhile and effective! Currently, my students are using their phones and old laptops to create.
