Our school is in a small, port city near the mouth of the Columbia River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. My students love to come to school and discuss the adventures of Lewis and Clark, one student said, "I've met them, they have been to my house!" This is one reason I love teaching. Students make me laugh all day! I am a 14 year high school teacher, and am beginning a new adventure. It is called, becoming a 4th grade teacher.
I am so excited and my number one priority will always be my students.
I am hoping to get some help to create a warm, inviting and safe classroom. My students are funny, loving, kind, helpful and eager to learn. I feel kids deserve a "break", some unstructured play time. They. Are. Tired. I could use some help with art supplies, BOOKS (grade level 3-5) and book shelves/storage bins. I love to give students a choice on how to use their "free time", so board games, comfortable pillows, books, or whiteboards.
This unstructured time allows the student to ask questions about the world, read, write a letter to a sick parent or brainstorm solutions.
My Project
Building a diverse classroom library that represents all students is so important. Your donations will help create a warm, inviting and safe space for students to read. Students who read get widely better at it, it exercises the brain, it improves concentration, builds empathy and develops a child's imagination.
Reading.
Is. Fun! By providing a rich and comfortable classroom library, I hope to create more diverse reading experiences for all students. Reading is important because it develops the mind, and makes my students to become more creative, curious thinkers.
Thank you for helping my students and I have a great school year. Your donations will be appreciated, and will help encourage students to get into the habit of reading, help them to relax and hopefully get addicted to it!
