My Project

At KIPP Navigate on the east side of San Jose, our students come from diverse, often underserved backgrounds, where they face daily challenges but also hold unique perspectives shaped by their experiences. As part of a Title I school, these young minds have stories to tell, injustices to spotlight, and dreams to envision. Our art class serves as a ground for them to explore, express, and advocate through various mediums, including photography. We previously secured funding for the FE 70-200 mm F2.8 GM OSS II lens, and now we aim to further empower our students with the FE 24-70 mm F2.8 GM Full-frame Standard Zoom G Master Lens.

With this new lens, students will gain additional versatility in their storytelling, allowing them to capture wide-angle shots to detailed close-ups, showcasing their community's vibrancy and challenges while advocating for mental health awareness and social justice.

The Sony lens will help students:

- **Explore Diverse Stories:** Students can visually document their community's struggles and triumphs, bringing attention to social issues through powerful images.

- **Enhance Artistic Expression:** The technical capabilities of the lens will help students refine their artistic vision, translating their thoughts and emotions into impactful visuals.

- **Advocate for Mental Health Awareness:** By focusing on mental health and social-emotional learning through compass work, students will investigate local issues, sharing stories of resilience that encourage empathy and understanding.

Your support will not only provide our art students with high-quality equipment but also empower them to use art as a form of activism and self-expression. Every donation helps equip our future artists with the tools they need to capture the world through their lenses, inspiring change and understanding in the process.
