This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a Spanish teacher, I strive to create meaningful, culturally rich experiences for my students. To bring our learning to life, I am requesting a Polaroid instant camera and a portable DVD player with USB/computer connectivity. These tools will help deepen engagement, build classroom community, and enhance language comprehension.
What We Need:
Polaroid Instant Camera: This camera will be used to capture special classroom moments, cultural celebrations, student projects, and language-learning activities. Instant photos will help create a vibrant classroom wall that showcases student growth and promotes community.
Portable DVD Player: This device will allow me to play cultural films, short documentaries, and authentic language materials—especially from DVDs I already own or access via my computer. It will also support my lessons by allowing students to engage with multimedia content in small groups or individually.
Why This Matters:
Many of my students thrive when they can see and experience language beyond textbooks. With these tools, I can make learning more tangible and immersive:
Photos from the camera will serve as visual cues and writing prompts in Spanish.
The DVD player will allow me to incorporate rich audiovisual content even in classrooms that lack DVD capabilities.
These resources will directly support visual learners, foster a sense of pride in student work, and make our Spanish classroom a place of connection and cultural curiosity.
