This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Marian Wright Edelman once said "Education is improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it." This year I have the honor of having an all boys roster in Shreveport, Louisiana. My students are inquisitive individuals who are eager to learn how they can leave their imprint on today's society.
In this classroom we focus on building a safe learning environment that welcomes different views on real world issues.
My students are searching for knowledge and understanding on how Louisiana history can shape their future. Most of them have limited access to technology at home which makes giving homework in the form of project based learning difficult. With your help we can incorporate projects that will engage my students and help them make the necessary real world connections that could ignite change in the school and their communities. It is exciting to imagine what my students will be able to accomplish when given the tools they need to be successful.
My Project
The materials will be used to help students create poster boards on their ancestry and make real world connections to the state's history. Students will be required to conduct research and creatively make connections to the history and the influence that colonization had on their community's identity. The colored paper, staplers, pencils, and other supplies of the sort will be used by the students, so that they may creatively design their posters.
By donating to this project you will help unlock the minds of my students while allowing learning to extend beyond the walls of the classroom to create better academic results.
By creating poster board highlighting their ancestry and researching Louisiana's multicultural society my students will develop a deeper understanding of how Louisiana's history have impacted their lives. Completing this project will create the foundation for the course and will ignite curiosity in history while making the lessons relevant and insightful. Your support in making this project successful is greatly needed and would be appreciated by my students.
