This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a STEM-based charter school with 74% free or reduced-price lunches. Recently, we were also impacted by Hurricane Irma which caused roof damage to many of our classrooms as well as my students' homes. Many of my students' families were out of work for more than two weeks which has also put a big strain on them financially.

I have an amazing group of third graders who are inquisitive and driven to learn everything they can to achieve their goals and dreams.

Our students come from a diverse socioeconomic background all with different perspectives and experiences. When they enter the classroom each morning, they are leaders ready to create solutions to the challenges their peers face.

They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and teachers. They are our future.

My Project

My students love hands-on projects. They also love to share what they do in class with others. Because of this we have started to document our projects with pictures and I have taught my students how to upload these photos into videos that they can create and share themselves on our classroom YouTube Channel.

Learning through making online videos is a fun way for my students to remember what they learn in class and to reflect back on it throughout the school year.

My students currently use iPads to take pictures in class and we need the iPad Flash drive to make it easier to get these pictures off of the iPads and onto our classroom computer for video editing. The two requested action cameras will allow the students to add video to these videos instead of just pictures. The memory cards will help allow the pictures to be transported easily from the cameras to our laptops. Once the pictures are on the student laptops, then my students can make their magic turning their pictures into wonderful videos.
