My Students

A typical day in our room is filled with curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning. One of my students said earlier in the year, "Your brain should be sunny side up and ready to learn!" We have made that a motto this year in our efforts to gain as much knowledge and experience in second grade.

This year I have 23 wonderful 2nd grade learners.

They amaze me every day with their questions, kindness and thirst for knowledge. Our vibrant classroom is equipped with cozy spaces to escape into the adventures of a great book. My students love bringing books to life using creativity and real-world applications through project-based learning. They love to see in action and answer the question, "Why do I need to know this?" They excel in creative learning, where they are able to express what they have learned and discovered through art, music, and theater. They are highly motivated through literature and their ability to respond to what they have read using writing, art, and discussion. Our school, located on the south side of Chicago, is a warm and loving environment for all our students grades kindergarten through 6th grade. We are truly a family and care for each student as individuals. We look to teach the whole child, both with their academics and social/emotional needs.

My Project

The materials we are requesting are basic art and classroom supplies such as crayons, markers, and scissors . I want to be able to offer my students the opportunity to have supplies that help them express their creativity and knowledge in a way that is completely unique to them. Projects that we would love to do with these supplies include, but are not limited to: making puppets to study characteristics, creating scenes for plays that help learn about detailed settings, creating posters and recycling bins to help promote conservation within our school and community, making dioramas to help with our studies about types of animals and their habitats.

Giving students the gift of creativity has no price tag.

To allow my students the ability to artistically express themselves and their learning using these supplies would bring them great joy. We pride ourselves on being a family. What more could we ask for to have a space where creativity is fostered and celebrated through our daily learning and growth? We thank you for your consideration of donation towards capturing our creativity!
