My Project
My classroom has 31 talented seniors enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Art SL/HL course. This is the largest section that I’ve ever taught and most of them are planning to study visual and/or digital arts at the university level. The Aims & Objectives of the course require them to explore new “mediums" or, more simply, tools to create their art, like photography, film, and stop-motion animation. But we have a huge problem. Right now, we don't have any cameras in this classroom, and without those important tools, students can't create the same kind of meaningful art that using a camera can bring.
My students come from different backgrounds, but they all share a love for art and a passion for storytelling.
They are innovators. They often surprise me with the creative paths and smart ideas they use to solve problems. I hope they leave my class not just as accomplished artists but also as clear thinkers and skilled storytellers. With access to professional-grade tools, they can create high-quality works that truly reflect their potential.
We are asking for two digital SLR cameras to help our students. These cameras will let them explore photography, make short films, and do stop-motion animation. With these tools, they can record their creative process, get reference photos, and explore new art forms for their portfolios. Having cameras that they can check out will help students work on their projects during class and when they are on their own. The cameras not only will make their portfolios much more powerful and impressive. They also will bring to life the creative and artistic projects currently in the idea stage.
